Since back in the ‘90s when we hosted “Sweating Bullets,” Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert has called our tribemates from around the world to gather in our Valley Oasis each November for a hot, sexy weekend celebration of Leather/Fetish fellowship and fun. Today, Palm Springs Leather Pride is one of our city’s most popular LGBT events and one of the largest, longest-running, and most successful Leather/Fetish Events in Southern California.

For 2009, we mark a return to our roots, with an extra focus on the camaraderie and fun that were the genesis of our celebration. We’ve resurrected two of your favorite events from the past: our Formal Leather Dinner and the clothing-optional ‘Turning Up The Heat’ Pool Party and Barbecue. These activities, along with our centerpiece Mr. Palm Springs Leather Contest, Recon Victory Dark Dance, several bar cruise parties and a select vendor market, complete a full, yet laid-back weekend schedule that’s sure to entice and entertain!

A special word about this year’s Formal Leather Dinner: Presented by Pulp Magazine and featuring a two-hour open bar, five elegant buffets and the LeatherMatch.com Cigar Tent, this feast promises to be a truly fantastic affair! Because of capacity restrictions, only 125 tickets are available. Tickets are reserved for VIP Weekend Package Holders only and will sell out, so if you want to attend be sure to register today!

In addition to the dinner, the VIP Weekend Package includes admission to all other ticketed events, plus a commemorative T-shirt, collectible dog tags and a run pin. It’s over $120 worth of tickets and merchandise, but it can be yours for the special combination price of only $89. Not since 2002 have we been able to offer such an economical weekend package!

As is our tradition, this year Palm Springs Leather Pride will once again be held on the weekend following the Greater Palm Springs Pride Festival so that guests who wish to make an extended vacation to Palm Springs may enjoy both celebrations. The Brothers and Sisters of Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert

With over 50 members, Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert is the Coachella Valley’s largest Leather/SM/Fetish social, educational, support and charitable organization. We promote with power and pride the right of all adults to engage in safe, sane and consensual sexual expression. We are most well-known for producing Turning Up the Heat, Palm Springs’ annual Leather Pride celebration and the Fetish Ball. A registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, PSLOD donated over $18,000 to over a dozen local and national charities in 2008. Local recipients included the AIDS Assistance Program, Desert AIDS Project, Desert Pride Center, Desert Women for Equality Mammogram Program and Well in the Desert. Shortly after the conclusion of last year’s Leather Pride, the membership of PSLOD discovered that our bank accounts had been cleared and that our Treasurer and his partner had fled to Europe. The theft deprived the club of over $52,000—the complete total of the Leather Pride door receipts, plus our charitable gift fund and operating reserves. It also left us with over $16,000 of unpaid Leather Pride bills. The PSLOD Recovery Fund is a short term project designed to retire our organization’s debt and provide us with enough operating funds to regain financial stability. Thanks to new fiscal policies and a year of fundraising, we’re almost debt-free! With the conclusion of a successful 2009 Leather Pride Weekend, we expect that all obligations will be paid and that we will be able to resume our regular charitable activities.
