The Contest

The Mr. Palm Springs Leather Contest will be held in the Palm Springs Convention Center's Primrose Ballroom on Saturday, November 14. Doors open at 6 pm, with the contest starting at 7 pm. A silent and live auction of luxury vacation, premium gift and high-quality erotica items will complement the festivities. The Contest is followed by the Recon Victory Dark Dance Party. The Contestants
Scott Anthony

Mr. Streetbar Leather

  Scott is a native Southern Californian and lived Glendora, Ontario, Murrieta and San Diego before moving to Palm Springs five years ago. He worked as a retail executive for twenty-four years before ending his career with Kohl's Department Stores in 2007. In 2006, after lengthy communication with Kohl's Corporate Office, he was able to involve the firm in Palm Springs Pride, where employees assisted in the festival’s childcare area. This was Kohl's first-ever involvement in the Gay Community. Scott’s main focus for the past four years has been caregiving. He describes his constant care for his partner/husband throughout an eighteen-month illness as one of the most difficult and yet rewarding times of his life. He has since opened his home to two other men, one for two years and another for five months. He takes great pride in having cared for these three men and is grateful for anything that he was able to do to help them lead happy and healthy lives.
     
Chris Bates

Mr. Tool Shed Leather

  Chris lives in Palm Springs and is self-employed at World Gym as a personal fitness trainer. He moved here four years ago from Portland, Oregon. He has also lived in Seattle, Washington, where he worked as a model for The Crypt stores and as a dancer. Chris attended Portland Community College, where he studied nursing and earned an Associate of Arts degree. He also led as President of Phi Theta Kappa for all three years of his studies. Chris has a passion for cooking and offers private chef services in the City of Palm Springs. He also volunteers at the Betty Ford Center and is an officer for a community outreach program called The Tweakers Project. He admits to having a rambunctious relationship with rough, sweaty blue-collar men and loves vintage Playgirl imagery. Chris is attracted to flogging and appreciates the energy exchange that it entails.
     
Larry Galston

Mr. Leather Toucan's

  Larry Galston, 44, is Mr. Leather Toucan’s 2010, a title which he earned in 2009 as well. He describes himself as a strongly dedicated person who is completely down-to-earth and real. He loves any type of activity which involves being in direct contact with nature. Larry also has a very deep passion for helping others through Community involvement. He strives to put the best of himself into any activity in which he participates. Larry says that the Leather Community is very important to him because through it he gets the freedom to openly express his individuality. Larry’s goal is to become part of some organizations that will help bring new and exciting things to our beautiful Palm Springs. Larry is greatly honored to be considered among all of his amazing fellow contestants for the title of Mr. Palm Springs Leather 2010.
     

Todd Parker
Mr. Barracks Leather

  Todd is a 39-year-old Leatherman who works for a local municipal public utility. Originally from Arkansas, he moved to California in the fall of 1998. He quickly became involved with the Leather Community in Long Beach when his partner at the time participated in a local bar contest at Pistons. He has completed course work as a computer tech and has a degree as an EMT intermediate with National Registry. Todd attended college at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He has volunteered with the Mizell Senior Center delivering Christmas gifts to the less fortunate and with the PSLOD during their Fetish Ball recovery benefit. He brings the honesty and integrity that were instilled in him by his birth family and nurtured by his Leather Brothers and Sisters for the past decade.
     
Lenny Broberg   Master of Ceremonies
Lenny Broberg

Lenny Broberg is an officer with the San Francisco Police Department. He won the International Mr. Leather title in 1992.

Lenny is one of the most visible icons in the Bay Area. Besides his full-time occupation in law enforcement, Lenny manages to animate dozens of events throughout the year as an emcee. His sharp but tactful wit has gained him a reputation as a stimulating presence onstage and off. He’s also rightfully known as “Mama's Officer.”

The Scoring

Personal Interview: 100 points
Introduction of Contestants: 
50 points
Jock Strap & Humorous Question:

Formal Leather and Speech: 
100 points

Scoring will be done using the Olympic method.  After each section, each contestant's high score and low score for that section are discarded and the remaining points are added together to make the total score for that section. At the end of the contest, the four individual section totals are added up and the contestant with the highest score becomes Mr. Palm Springs Leather 2010.
